Our Patients
In our Intensive Care Unit, we provide care for medically and surgically complex patients.
We pay special attention to patients who have undergone complex surgeries, such as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, major abdominal surgery, and spinal surgery. Our team is highly trained to manage these surgical interventions and provide the necessary intensive care during the recovery stage.
Additionally, we care for patients with complex medical conditions, such as acute ischemic heart disease, heart and/or respiratory failure, acute kidney failure, stroke, severe sepsis, among others. We are prepared to address these critical medical conditions and provide the necessary support for stabilization and recovery.
We have a multidisciplinary team composed of expert physicians, specialized nurses, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals, who work together to ensure comprehensive and personalized care for each patient.
Care and healthcare of excellence.
Medical experience, cutting-edge technology with human treatment
Our specialist doctors, responsible for the care of our patients, are highly qualified professionals, all of whom specialize in Intensive Medicine. They have extensive professional experience in renowned hospitals and recognized academic training. Many of them are key figures in other areas related to critical patients, such as ground and air medical transport.
Additionally, some of our doctors are professors at various universities, hold medical doctorates, and are accredited instructors by the Spanish Society of Intensive Medicine and Coronary Units in advanced cardiovascular life support and care for polytrauma patients.
At the same level of professionalism is our nursing and auxiliary staff, who play a fundamental role in the hospital's ICU. Without their work, patient care would be impossible. The entire nursing team stands out for its high professional level and possesses extensive skills in caring for critically ill patients. Some of them are even professors in nursing degree programs.
The direct responsibility for the critically ill patient lies with the Intensive Care Physicians, who work closely with all specialists at the hospital. This smooth communication and high level of specialization allow us to offer our patients efficient and multidisciplinary assistance quickly.
Committed to quality care, supported by highly qualified professionals.
The ICU at Hospital Ruber Internacional consists of two care areas: the Intensive Care Unit and the Multipurpose Unit. Below are the details of each:
Intensive Care Unit:
- We have 10 beds, including 2 isolated beds for special cases.
- Equipped with the latest technology for monitoring and treating complex situations.
- Capable of performing advanced therapies such as ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), continuous veno-venous hemodiafiltration, balloon counterpulsation, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, neuromonitoring, among others.
Multipurpose Unit:
- 8 beds in individual rooms.
- Initially designed for patients requiring intermediate surveillance.
- Four of the rooms allow continuous accompaniment.
- All rooms can be used as ICU beds in cases of high demand, as was done during the 2020 pandemic.
It is important to highlight the close relationship between the ICU medical team, the Emergency Department, and the hospitalization area. This collaboration allows for urgent and comprehensive care throughout the entire healthcare process, ensuring the continuity of medical care for our patients.
