Technological support is essential to deliver high-quality treatment, and at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid, we are equipped with the most innovative technology. Our general surgery operating rooms feature the latest advancements in imaging for advanced laparoscopic surgery, radioguided surgery, and robotic surgery (Da Vinci).
Your health is our priority. We work with dedication to achieve optimal outcomes in your surgical treatment.
Well-being and Trust.
Maximum Safety and Quality Care
We specialize in the comprehensive treatment of patients facing both benign and malignant conditions that require surgery and affect vital organs such as the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, and pancreas.
To provide optimal care, our team of surgeons works closely with a diverse group of highly trained specialists, including endocrinologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, pathologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and clinical laboratory experts.
Our department takes a highly personalized and safe approach to patient care. Through clinical evaluation sessions, we ensure that each individual receives the most appropriate treatment tailored to their specific needs and conditions.
Optimal Outcomes and Improved Quality of Life.
We treat both benign and malignant conditions that affect any part of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, colon, rectum, as well as the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas.
In cases of malignant and premalignant diseases, early diagnosis is essential, as initial-stage conditions can often be cured with appropriate treatment. For this reason, preventive screening is conducted in healthy individuals within age groups with a higher incidence of tumors, a process known as "screening."
The most important tests for the early detection of gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers include tumor markers, fecal occult blood tests, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy. These tests form the foundation for the early diagnosis of digestive tract diseases.
For oncological conditions, preoperative tumor staging is critical to determine whether the patient is a candidate for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or a combination of both before surgery. Advanced imaging studies are vital in accurately staging the tumor, enabling better outcomes in later stages of treatment.
Surgical treatment is performed using the most advanced technological systems. Depending on the tumor's characteristics, procedures may be carried out through conventional, laparoscopic, or robotic surgery.
Benign conditions can also arise in any part of the digestive system. Common benign diseases include benign tumors, intestinal diverticula in both the small intestine and colon, intestinal obstruction of either benign or malignant origin, and ischemic processes. Treatment for these conditions is typically surgical, using laparoscopic, open, or robotic techniques as appropriate.
The best care and support throughout your treatment.
We address a range of conditions, including hemorrhoids, fistulas, and anal fissures.
Hemorrhoids are treated based on the patient’s symptoms, such as pain or bleeding. Depending on the type of hemorrhoids, various treatment options are available, including sclerotherapy, selective ligation of hemorrhoidal pedicles, and hemorrhoidectomy in its different variations.
Anal fistulas are tracts that connect the perianal skin to the rectum and can range from superficial to those affecting the anal sphincters. Accurate diagnosis is essential, as treatment varies significantly depending on the type of fistula. In addition to a physical examination, diagnostic tools such as rectoscopy, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used to ensure precision.
Anal fissures are tears at the anal margin that cause pain and bleeding. Diagnosis is based on physical examination and clinical symptoms. Treatment typically involves the surgical division of the internal sphincter.
We offer a variety of personalized treatment options for each case. Accurate diagnosis and complementary tests are essential to ensuring proper care and satisfactory outcomes.
Your health is our priority.
We specialize in treating a variety of biliary tract conditions, liver diseases, and pancreatic disorders. Our multidisciplinary approach and use of cutting-edge technology allow us to provide specialized treatment options and high-quality care to our patients.
We address a range of conditions affecting these systems:
- Biliary Tract Surgery
The most common condition in this category is cholelithiasis (gallstones), followed by choledocholithiasis (stones in the common bile duct). Surgical treatment is performed laparoscopically and is recommended when patients present symptoms related to the condition or when associated diseases necessitate it.
- Choledocholithiasis
This condition involves the presence of stones in the common bile duct. Treatment includes stone removal, either through endoscopic procedures or a combination of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery in a single intervention, especially when gallstones are also present in the gallbladder.
- Malignant Hepatobiliary Surgery
The treatment of malignant tumors in the liver and biliary tract requires a multidisciplinary collaboration between digestive system specialists, interventional radiologists, oncologists, and surgeons. At Ruber International Hospital, we employ the most advanced technology and highly specialized professionals to treat primary liver tumors and liver metastases, primarily of colonic origin. Techniques include liver resections and radiofrequency ablation.
- Pancreatic Pathology
Pancreatic disorders, particularly tumors, are on the rise in our country. Our hospital’s surgical team is highly specialized in managing these diseases in close collaboration with endoscopy, radiology, and oncology services.
In managing gastroduodenal diseases, we combine open and laparoscopic surgery to achieve greater effectiveness with minimal harm to the patient, ensuring a quicker recovery.
Expertise and Cutting-Edge Technology.
Abdominal wall surgery addresses a variety of conditions, including hernias, eventrations, and associated malignant pathologies.
Hernias can occur in various areas of the abdominal wall, such as inguinal, umbilical, Spigelian, obturator, and other types. Eventrations may vary depending on prior surgeries and can involve the midline, para-rectal, transverse, subcostal, or Pfannenstiel areas, among others. Diagnosis is performed through clinical evaluation and radiological tests. Treatment may be carried out using either open or laparoscopic techniques, depending on the hernia's characteristics and the indicated repair method. In most cases, mesh placement—either intra-abdominally or extra-abdominally—is necessary as part of the repair procedure.
Malignant Abdominal Wall Pathology while rare, malignant abdominal wall pathologies can occasionally be diagnosed. Diagnosis involves radiological tests and biopsies. Treatment depends on the extent and type of tumor and may require collaboration with plastic and reconstructive surgery specialists to achieve proper reconstruction.
Our clinical approach, combined with advanced surgical techniques—whether open or laparoscopic—enables us to provide specialized and effective care for these conditions.
